The 25th edition of the Saint-Martin-de-Ré Artists' Open House will be held, as every year, on 16, 17 and 18 August 2026, from 3pm to 8pm.
The 25th edition of the Saint-Martin-de-Ré Artists’ Studios Open House will take place, as it does every year, on August 16, 17, and 18, 2026. The event, which has become an unmissable summer tradition, will offer the public an artistic journey through the village’s narrow streets, featuring around ten exhibiting artists.
Among the highlights is Alain Cazalis’s printmaking studio at 25 Rue des Gabaret, which has been open for over 25 years and, as always, will welcome his daughters Izumi and Flore—an illustrator, a ceramicist, and a printmaker, respectively. This hub of local culture will offer a family-oriented, creative dialogue centered on printmaking and illustration. Demonstrations of engraving techniques will be offered.
A few doors down, in the courtyard at 23 rue des Gabaret, visitors can discover the world of La Rochelle-based painter Sophie Adde. The painter’s colorful canvases, deeply inspired by nature, will be accompanied by works from her guests.
Meanwhile, sculptor and figurative artist Michel Thierry will take over the courtyard at 7 Cours Bailly des Écotais with his life-drawings and bronze sculptures.
Brigitte Domenjoz will showcase Francine Bonin’s works made from seashells—a beautiful blend of patience and creativity—at 5 rue de l’Orneau, behind the market. Clément Gourdet, based in Sainte Marie, will be participating in these events for the first time. He reinterprets the traditional gyotaku technique—a stamp-printing method used as early as the 17th century by Japanese fishermen to preserve memories of their finest catches.
With demonstrations, exhibitions, and meet-and-greets, this new edition of the Studio Open House promises an artistic stroll full of discoveries alongside professional artists. It’s a wonderful opportunity to (re)discover Saint-Martin-de-Ré through the eyes of its artists.
