Follow real-time traffic updates and forecasts via webcams installed across Île de Ré, so you can choose the best time to head across to the mainland or make your way to the island.

Monitoring traffic in real time on Île de Ré

Leaving the island: from Île de Ré to La Rochelle

8 webcams are currently in place to give you an overview of traffic conditions on your way to the mainland:

  • North exit route, along the corniche from Rivedoux-Plage to the bridge.
  • South exit route, from Sainte-Marie-de-Ré to the bridge.

Arriving on the island: from La Rochelle to Ile de Ré

2 webcams allow you to monitor traffic in real time at the bridge toll booth.

An initiative by the Île de Ré Community of Municipalities and the Charente-Maritime départment.

Please note that the video is updated with a slight delay of a few seconds or minutes for reasons of security and privacy (10-second sequences are refreshed every 5 minutes). Bluetooth sensors also record vehicle speeds and calculate journey times on both routes (shown in orange and red). Where possible, these sensors are installed on lampposts so as to be as discreet as possible.

Any display problems are reported to the Charente-Maritime départment, which manages the cameras and feeds. We are unable to intervene directly on the system. In the event of a problem, try using a different web browser or viewing the images on your smartphone. Other applications, such as Waze and GoogleTraffic, can also be used to monitor traffic in real time.

The webcams are available on the official Charente-Maritime départment website here.
