Why is Île de Ré a favourite destination when it is hot?
An oceanic climate
Thanks to its geographical location, Île de Ré benefits from the moderating influence of the Atlantic Ocean. The sea breeze helps keep the heat at bay, and temperatures can be 5°C lower than on the mainland.
In August, maximum temperatures generally fluctuate between 24°C and 27°C, with cool nights (16-18°C).
Suitable landscapes and activities
With beaches, pine forests and villages with plenty of shade, the island offers a multitude of natural spaces in which to cool off and rest.
