Description
European Heritage Days 2026
A journey back in time, to the heart of an exceptional place.
Built between 1711 and 1721, La Baronnie is much more than just a magnificent residence. It is a heritage gem steeped in history and charm, which once belonged to Madame de Tencin. Nestled in the heart of Saint-Martin-de-Ré, a stone’s throw from the harbour, this property, listed in the Inventory of Historic Monuments, is opening its doors exceptionally for European Heritage Days.
The owners invite you to discover the secrets of this residence through two guided tours, on Saturday 19 September at 3.30 pm and 5 pm, by booking.
After a welcome at 21 Rue Baron-de-Chantal, the tour will take you into the inner courtyard for a presentation on the history of La Baronnie, before passing through the bar and strolling through the gardens, offering a view of the main façade. The entire building, including its interiors, has been carefully restored.
To extend the experience, visitors who wish to do so can enjoy a relaxing moment in the garden with a drink. On this occasion, Bar 1721 will be open for drinks.
An event for the curious, history buffs and lovers of beautiful mansions.
