Getting around Ile de Ré

Ajouter aux favoris

To get around Île de Ré, choose from a variety of transport options

In high season, take a village shuttle, some of which are electric, to get from the centre of the village to the beach, or from your accommodation to the market. A separate circular shuttle service connects some of the island’s villages to one another. Last but not least, the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region’s year-round bus route 150 travels across the whole island.

   By bicycle

The most iconic way to get around the island is, of course, by bicycle: eco-friendly, practical, sporty and often faster than the car on busy days. With 138 km of cycle paths and virtually flat terrain, Ile de Ré stands out as the ideal destination for cycling enthusiasts and those who love greener modes of transport.
In every village, you will find a wide range of bike hire outlets, many of which also rent out electric bikes.

On foot

In the villages, walking is also an excellent way to enjoy everything the island has to offer, whilst keeping active, as distances remain manageable.

By bus

On the island, you can also get on one of the buses coming from La Rochelle (bus route 150).
The route runs from Sablanceaux to Les Portes-en-Ré, passing through each of the island’s villages and main points of interest. The bus is a convenient way to get around, whilst helping reduce traffic on the roads.
Single ticket: €2.50. Return ticket: €4.50. Free for children under 4 years old.
