Get into the festive spirit

In August, the Île de Ré is buzzing with the full spirit of summer. The days stretch out between the ocean, the marshes and the villages, whilst the evenings are filled with concerts, markets, shows and festivals. It’s the perfect time to enjoy a lively, authentic and vibrant island, to be savoured together, with family or friends.

The major festivals in August on the Île de Ré

Musique en Ré Festival (until 7 August 2026)

Running throughout July and August, this classical music festival brings its magic to every village. Open-air concerts, church concerts and performances for young audiences offer an accessible and immersive cultural experience.

Syrinx en Ré Festival from 19 to 21 August

The new generation of classical musicians is coming to the island. This festival showcases young musicians from national conservatoires in intimate and accessible concerts, notably in Ars-en-Ré, Les Portes and La Couarde-sur-Mer

   Jazz en Ré evenings

In Saint-Martin-de-Ré, the harbour comes alive at the end of the month with a 1950s-inspired atmosphere. Concerts, dancing and a retro vibe create a friendly and festive atmosphere

Finally, it’s time to make the most of the moment, thanks to the many festivities organised by local associations, local authorities and passionate enthusiasts, all of whom are committed to celebrating the heritage and folklore of the Île de Ré.
