Description

In partnership with Ré Nature Environnement – The festival that offers you a unique immersive experience at the heart of the rich natural environment surrounding the Île de Ré.
For this 4th edition, the festival is putting the spotlight on seals, the unobtrusive yet faithful visitors to the Île de Ré coastline. Over two exceptional evenings blending science and art, the public is invited to discover their fascinating world, their habits, and their movements along the Île de Ré coastline. Programme: - Monday 10 August: 6.30 pm Clay workshop. For children and families. A creative and friendly session to model seals, whales and other ocean dwellers, whilst learning about marine wildlife in a fun way. This will be followed by a ‘Kamishibai’ storytelling session for children, telling the story of a seal. 8.00 pm Talk by Grégory Ziebacz: The Seals of Île de Ré The Pertuis Charentais occasionally welcome discreet visits from seals. This talk invites you to learn more about the different species observed along the Île de Ré coastline. You’ll discover how these animals come to stay for varying lengths of time to rest, regain their strength and feed. 9.00 pm CIRCUS AND MUSIC SHOW The artists of La Java des Baleines, accompanied by musicians Matthieu Naulleau on piano and Matthieu Desbordes on drums, will take you on a timeless underwater journey. Featuring the residents of the CDAIR. - Tuesday 11 August: 6.00 pm to 8.00 pm: hands-on workshop to build a wrought-iron whale with local sculptor Gilles Audebert 6.30 pm: Clay workshop 8.00 pm Screening – A previously unseen 26-minute documentary by Jean-Roch Meslin dedicated to the protection of seals on the Île de Ré. This film highlights the growing presence of these marine mammals along the Île de Ré coastline and the vital work carried out for over thirty years by Ré Nature Environnement’s National Stranding Network. 9.00 pm Improvisational theatre – The improvisers from Impro & Co – La Rochelle will play with your words and ideas, but with one constraint: they must stick to the theme of ‘The Dolphins’ Dance’! A fun and zany show, suitable for all ages, which will teach you about the lives of marine mammals!
