FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 25 6:00 pm: SCUM-Manifesto – Reading Laurent Sauvage Ars-en-Ré Chapel – 16 rue du Havre (€12) The actor humorously explores the radical feminist manifesto by Valérie Solanas, written in the United States in 1967, which called for overthrowing the government and permanently getting rid of the male sex, considered by the author to be a biological accident. A struggle that would lead her to prison a few years later, following her attempted assassination of Andy Warhol… 7:00 pm: êTRE FOU PLUTôT QU’à GENOUX – Poetry & Music Gabriel Dufay / Johann Riche Square in front of the Ars-en-Ré village hall (€15) Actor and director Gabriel Dufay gives voice and body once again to a great yet little-known 20th-century poet, who was also a member of the Resistance and a doctor, whose life and work were marked by defiance and rebellion. Paul Valet’s poetry, driven by the necessity and rage of living, is the kind of poetry that can change the lives of those who discover it! For this evening, Gabriel Dufay, accompanied by accordionist Johann Riche, will perform a musical reading of his poems, as well as the text “Solstices Terrassés”, recounting the poet’s stay in a psychiatric hospital. 9:00 pm: LE PROJET BARTHES – Theatre Directed by Sylvain Maurice, with Vincent Dissez Based on The Preparation of the Novel by Roland Barthes Ars-en-Ré village hall (€15) An adaptation of Roland Barthes’s final lectures at the Collège de France, the performance presents literature as an inexhaustible and endless source, opening the way towards rebirth! 10:00 pm: ARIANNA MONTEVERDI Folk/Rock concert Square in front of the Ars-en-Ré village hall (free) SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 26 5:00 pm: ECCE HOMO – Reading Frédéric Leidgens & Sophie Robin Ars-en-Ré Chapel – 16 rue du Havre (€12) In Ecce Homo, Nietzsche makes no attempt at modesty: he puts himself on stage, praises himself, attacks, provokes and revels. He speaks of himself as an event—with wild arrogance, fierce lucidity and devastating humor. Philosophy, autobiography, an ego trip? It hardly matters: Nietzsche sets fire to conventions and turns his own portrait into a battlefield. The actor takes hold of this incandescent language and brings to life an electric, funny, excessive and sometimes unsettling Nietzsche. A raw reading, with no user manual, inviting us to encounter without filters the words of a man determined never to go unnoticed. 6:00 pm: JE SUIS LENT – Dance Loïc Touzé Ars-en-Ré village hall (€15) An introspective, tender and self-deprecating lecture about the journey of a dancer who entered the Paris Opera at the age of 10 and discovered contemporary dance at 20. From the shock of this discovery to questioning everything he had learned, from passion to the difficulty of unlearning codes embedded since childhood, the performance traces the path of an artist in search of freedom, gradually seeking to invent his own language. 8:30 pm: I’M DERANGED – Theatre Mina Kavani Salle des Marais de la Prée, Les Portes-en-Ré (€15) Forced into exile because she dreamed of a theatre free from the Iranian dictatorship and censorship, Mina Kavani turns her story into a sensitive journey where reality meets dreams, the grotesque and poetry. With great intensity, she evokes the pain of displacement, the nostalgia for a lost homeland and the need to reinvent oneself. I’m Deranged is a hymn to life and freedom, affirming the power of art in the face of oppression. 10:00 pm–2:00 am: CANES VENATICI Electro/Techno DJ set Ars-en-Ré village hall (free) SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 27 3:00 pm: LA VIE EN ROSE (SAUMON) – Tragicomic One-Man Show Hervé Guilloteau La Couarde-sur-Mer community hall (€12) “It was my whole life!”: The actor gives a monologue to a man who appeared on the 1 pm news on TF1, wearing boots and underwear, standing in front of his flooded house. When he sees himself in the replay, he realizes that things have been going badly for a long time, and that perhaps this is a blessing in disguise. What will happen next? Where can he find the resources when a soul—quite literally—has been taking on water for too long? 5:00 pm: SALTI – Dance-Theatre Brigitte Seth & Roser Montllo Guberna / With Jim Couturier, Antoine Ferron, Alix Kuentz Godinand multi-purpose hall, Saint-Clément-des-Baleines (€15 / €10 under 18) All ages, from 3 years old Three friends are swept up in the tarantella, the dance of southern Italy once invoked to ward off the venom of the tarantula. The music accelerates, the bodies become animated, and the game turns into a genuine ritual of trance—funny, wild and exhilarating. In Salti, dance becomes a matter of survival, contagion and shared pleasure. 7:00 pm: BLACKOUT SONGS – Theatre Arnaud Anckaert / With Caroline Mounier and Fabrice Gaillard Ars-en-Ré village hall (€15) What do we seek when reality is no longer enough? One night. One bar. Two people on the edge of collapse. Alcohol gives life a vivid intensity before exposing its flaws, its voids and its violence. A theatre of excess and fragility, where laughter comes dangerously close to disaster and two people try to hold on to each other, uncertainly searching for a life that might still feel inhabitable.
