Follow a pleasant, safe and flat route for a walk suitable for everyone, taking in heritage, nature and the sea air. Head towards the ocean and Gollandières Beach. Take the accessible and pleasant Gollandières boardwalk, which gently guides you along the coast. Next, let yourself be guided to the famous Bois-Plage-en-Ré Market, one of the largest on the island. Under its bustling market halls, discover the local flavours and friendly atmosphere that give the village its charm. Your walk also takes you to the elegant Saint-Étienne Church in Bois-Plage-en-Ré, whose white bell tower towers above the traditional houses. Designed to be accessible to all, this route facilitates movement for people with disabilities. It has been tested and approved by an assessor from the Tourisme & Handicap scheme to best meet your needs.   • Guidebook with maps/step-by-step
    1. The walk starts in front of the Bois-Plage-en-Ré tourist office. Turn left onto Rue des Barjottes and follow it for 350 metres.
    2. Then turn right across Rue des Barjottes and follow the pavement on the right along La Raise Maritaise for
    190 metres.
    3. Cross at the pedestrian crossing and turn left onto Avenue de la Plage (on your right, you will find a children's playground, shaded picnic tables and a
    boules court) and follow it for 250 m.
    4. You will arrive at Gollandières beach. Continue straight ahead for 90 m.
    5. Turn right and take the wooden footbridge (magnificent view of the ocean, the Ars-en-Ré bell tower and the Baleines lighthouse, recommended at sunset!) and follow it for 190 m to arrive at the Bidon V beach car park.
    6. Go around the car park using the footpath for 120 m and you will find Avenue des Gollandières on your right.
    7. Continue straight ahead for 320 m, cross the junction with La Raise Maritaise and continue straight ahead on Avenue de la Plage for 350 m.
    8. Cross at the pedestrian crossing (Place de Lazzate on your
    right with its traditional year-round market and fairground rides
    in summer) and continue straight ahead for 100 m. Turn right and after 30 m, turn left into Impasse de la Tourette and follow it for 50 m.
    9. Turn left towards Place du Clos Marin, go around it (50 m) and cross the small car park (distance 40 m).
    10. Turn right onto Rue Blanche and follow it for 10 m to reach the crossroads with Rue du Général de Gaulle.
    Turn right onto this street and continue for 100 m.
    11. Turn left, crossing the pedestrian crossing to return to Rue des Barjottes and complete your route by returning to the Bois-Plage-en-Ré visitor centre, located 100 m away.
