In 2005, Hervé Rocheteau, a passionate salt producer, recreated the Marais du Roc farm, located between the village of Les Portes and the river Fier, not far from the cycle path leading to the Lilleau des Niges Reserve, a marsh that had been abandoned since the 1970s. Regularly asked to sell his salt, he opened a shop in the heart of the village of Les Portes-en-Ré, "Place du Sel", where he sells salt in all its forms and very local products.
