Get to know the area and explore

Before exploring the trails, visit the Maison du Fier, a fun museum space housed in a former salt farming shed.

Discover the natural world of Île de Ré, and the diversity of its plants and wildlife. The museum space is ideal for children.

Only then will you be able to fully appreciate the surprising richness of Lilleau des Niges, which is a connection point between the Arctic and Africa for many migratory birds.

Access to the nature reserve is actually forbidden: the trail open to the public can be found to the south of the reserve.
You can hire binoculars from the Maison du Fier for birdwatching.
