Le jardin de Violette et Capucine, production of edible flowers and organic herbs in La Flotte.
Since 2021, Sophie Perrain has been cultivating a collection of edible flowers, herbs and rare plants on over 2 hectares of land in La Flotte, for the most discerning chefs and gourmet artisans, as well as for lovers of nature and unique flavors.
Grown organically, by hand and in the spirit of permaculture (cultivation on living soil, respecting biodiversity and natural balances), Violette et Capucine's selection of plants is diverse and daring, yet adapted to the very specific terroir of the Ile de Ré and its climate.
This visit is a true sensory journey through the heart of this living, colorful and fragrant garden. Let yourself be enchanted by the astonishing aromas of each plant you encounter: the honeyed sweetness of pansy flowers, the lemony, floral notes of pelargonium, the iodized, oyster-like accent of borage flowers, or the peppery spiciness of nasturtium leaves... At the end of the tour, you'll be invited to taste these plants and discover the handcrafted creations made from the garden's harvests (herbal teas, jellies, syrups, dried flowers, etc.), in a pleasantly shaded undergrowth setting. Come away with ideas for simple recipes to enhance a seasonal salad, a sauce, a pastry...!
"Pleasure is gathered, joy is picked, happiness is cultivated."
A box of a selection of flowers and herbs encountered in the garden is included in the visit.
