Kitesurfing lessons and courses with experts in northern Ré
Do you dream of gliding across the water in complete freedom? Discover our kitesurfing lessons and courses supervised by passionate professionals on the Île de Ré.
Supervision by renowned riders:
Upon arrival, you will be welcomed by Alex Robin, kitesurfing instructor trainer at the École Nationale de Voile et des Sports Nautiques since 2012, and Grégoire Rochereau, an experienced instructor. Their teaching methods guarantee rapid and safe progress, tailored to your level. Their goal is to teach you kitesurfing safely and in a fun atmosphere.
- Who can come and do kitesurfing courses? The courses are tailored to all levels, from beginners who have never practised before to experts who want to work on transitions, upwind riding and jumps. Students must weigh more than 40 kg and be at least 10 years old:
Whether you are a beginner or want to perfect your kitesurfing skills, our courses are designed to meet your needs.
- Introduction: learn how to handle the kitesurfing wing, the flight window and the basics of steering. Of course, we will teach you how to equip yourself properly. From wetsuits to harnesses, as well as helmets and life jackets, which are mandatory in kitesurfing schools.
- Progression: work on water starts, controlling your glide on a kitesurf board, transitions, upwind riding and independence on the water.
- Advanced training: improve your navigation and steering skills, learn your first tricks and try out different types of boards. Learn to kitesurf with a surfboard under your feet (strapless kitesurfing) or a foil (kitefoil). Jumping techniques and box kites have been very popular in recent years. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you would like to discover new sensations in kitesurfing in the north of the Île de Ré.
- During kite coaching (twin tip kitesurfing, strapless or kitefoil) and supervised navigation, you will have a walkie-talkie. The radio allows us to give you the best tips in real time. All equipment and compulsory insurance are included in the price, but you can also bring your own equipment.
- We will cover all methods of relaunching a kitesurf wing in all conditions, as well as self-rescue techniques to enable you to return to shore even if the wing does not relaunch or in the event of equipment failure during your future independent practice.
- Where do the kitesurfing lessons take place on the Île de Ré? We choose the most suitable spots possible depending on the weather and tide conditions:
Our lessons take place at the best kitesurfing spots in the north of the Île de Ré. We use:
• Diamond Head in Saint-Clément-des-Baleines, ideal for north-westerly winds at low tide
• Le Banc du Bûcheron (car park at Anse du Fourneau in Les Portes-en-Ré) ideal in north-easterly conditions at low tide
• Le Boutillon, near Le Martray between Ars-en-Ré and La Couarde, ideal in south-westerly winds at low tide
• Ars-en-Ré sailing school, near the harbour master's office in the new port, for all boat trips regardless of wind conditions, especially at high tide and in July and August.
These spots, well known from weather forecasts on Windguru, Windy and Windfinder, offer ideal conditions for learning and progressing in complete safety.
- What equipment is used for learning and progressing?
We will provide you with equipment adapted to your needs. We use the latest generation of equipment from Flysurfer kiteboarding and North Kiteboarding, which is regularly renewed for maximum comfort and safety. Hybrid box kites and single-strut tube kites (Indie, Code Zero) are perfect for discovering the sport in complete safety. Three-strut kites (Reach or Heli) or high-performance box kites (Soul3 or Sonic5) are available for experts, as they are better suited to those looking for rigidity, directional stability and lift when jumping.
At the end of your course, you will have the opportunity to purchase second-hand equipment to continue progressing independently. Feel free to check out the second-hand kitesurfing section of the website.
